An independent Australian journal covering double rifles, classic sporting arms, and the hunts that put them to the test — written from the field, not the armchair.

About this journal

ABOUT THIS
JOURNAL

The Nitro Field Journal is an independent Australian publication built on a love of double rifles and classic sporting rifles — the craftsmanship, the cartridges, and the heritage behind them. Written from an Australian perspective shaped by an African upbringing, it ranges across the great nitro-express doubles, the practical medium bores, drillings and combination guns, projectiles and ballistics, international big-game hunting, and the field gear that either earns its place or doesn't.

More than a catalogue of rifles, it exists to pass something on: to help the next generation of shooters and hunters build real, practical knowledge, and to test gear honestly — bought, never gifted. Most of all, it's a place to tell the stories of fellow hunters — their past adventures, the hunts and journeys behind them, the mentors and the rifles they carried — and to capture and immortalise those stories before they're lost.
