Every serious hunter carries a story worth keeping — a hunt that mattered, a rifle handed down or hard-won, a mentor who shaped the way you shoot. Most of those stories live in memory, a forum thread, or a shoebox of photographs, and most of them will be lost. This journal exists to record them properly, before they are.
How it works
You get in touch.
A rough outline is plenty — where, when, what rifle, why it stayed with you. You don't need to be a writer.
We talk it through.
A phone call or a long email exchange, whatever suits. I'll ask the questions; you tell it the way it happened.
I write it up.
Your story, properly told, with your photographs if you have them.
You approve every word before it's published.
Nothing goes live without your sign-off, and the story remains yours.
What I'm looking for
Hunts from any era and any country. Rifles with history — doubles especially, but any classic sporting arm. Mentors, first hunts, hard lessons, and the trips that didn't go to plan. Australian and African stories are close to home here, but the net is wide.
The fine print
Your story is published under your name, or initials, or anonymously — your choice. You keep ownership; the journal simply holds the right to publish it. No payment changes hands in either direction — this is preservation, not commerce.
